The series kicked off on Wednesday, September 23rd where Boca Grande residents had an opportunity to join Healthnetwork Foundation and speaker Dr. Paul Auwaerter, MBA, MD, Clinical Director at the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Auwaerter provided the latest knowledge on the transmission of COVID-19, the course of the illness, and updates on testing, as well as addressed travel considerations.

The Long Road to Recovery: Dealing with the Lingering Health Effects of COVID-19
On October 6th Boca Grande residents were able to join Laurie Jacobs, MD, Chair, Department of Medicine Hackensack Meridian Health as she spoke on the lingering health effects of COVID-19. Through their experience in caring for these patients, Hackensack Meridian Health has developed NJ’s first and only COVID-19 Recovery Center to provide a comprehensive post-COVID evaluation, along with support and treatment.

Dr. Allan Feingold and his team at Baptist Health South Florida have been actively tracking and reporting on COVID-19 data daily for several months now. For this session in this Back to Boca series, we’ll do a deep-dive into the data to explore COVID-19 case trends across the US, specifically in Florida, and more closely in our area. Dr. Feingold will also discuss the impact of mask wearing and social distancing, as well as guidelines around quarantines.
